When you request a CNC machining quote, one of the first questions is: “How fast can you deliver?” Lead time depends on several factors, and understanding them helps you plan better.

## Standard Lead Time Breakdown

| Part Complexity | Typical Lead Time |
|—|—|
| Simple 3-axis parts (10-100 pcs) | 7-10 working days |
| 5-axis complex parts (10-50 pcs) | 12-18 working days |
| Tight-tolerance + inspection (10-50 pcs) | 15-21 working days |
| Production runs (500+ pcs) | 25-35 working days |

## What Affects Lead Time

**1. Material availability**
Standard materials (6061 aluminum, 304 stainless, CRS) are in stock. Specialty materials (PEEK, titanium, Inconel) require sourcing, adding 3-7 days.

**2. Part complexity**
Simple 2D profiles machine quickly. 5-axis parts with multiple setups, tight tolerances, and special features take longer.

**3. Quantity**
Setup time is fixed. A 5-piece prototype and a 500-piece production run have the same programming and setup effort, but production takes longer on the machine.

**4. Secondary operations**
Anodizing, passivation, bead blasting, and assembly add 5-10 days each.

**5. Inspection requirements**
CMM inspection, FAI reports, and material certification add 2-3 days to the timeline.

## How to Speed Up Your Order

– Send complete, dimensioned drawings (not just 3D models)
– Approve the quote quickly — material can be pre-ordered
– Consolidate part numbers into one PO
– Allow stock finish if anodizing isn’t critical
